How are Believers to be Baptised?

a. The usual mode is full immersion in water

The meaning of the word "baptise" literally means to dip or immerse under water. As such, our usual mode of baptism is immersion. Jesus Himself was baptised by immersion in water.
"As Jesus was coming up out of the water,…" (Mark 1:10)

The disciples of Jesus were also baptised by immersion in water.
"Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him. When they came up out of the water,…" (Acts 8:38-39)

b. Sprinkling is allowed under certain circumstances

The mode is not as important as the truth it symbolises. The church leadership will consider sprinkling if a person is too sick or weak to be immersed in water.

c. Baptism in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit," (Matthew 28:19-20)

d. Believing family members can be baptised together

Believing family members are encouraged to be baptised together. The number of people allowed depends on how many can get into the baptism pool at the same time.
