We are introduced to Daniel at a very significant point in his life. At the age of around 15, Daniel was sent into exile to be trained as a Babylonian official. He found himself thrusted into a pagan culture that challenged his faith and sought to reshape his Jewish identity. Daniel faced constant pressure to compromise, yet he remained steadfast in his devotion to God.
From resisting the king’s rich food to seeking God for revelation to the king’s dream, Daniel consistently walked in total dependence on God. His 3 friends refused to bow down to an idol and preferred to endure the fiery furnace instead. Even at a ripe old age, Daniel chose to practise his faith openly and was willing to face the lions. Through every testing, Daniel and friends found God to be faithful to those who trust and obey Him.
Daniel’s story is proof that godly living is possible in a world that pulls us in the opposite direction. This May, let’s discover from the Word how God can use us to shine for Him, as we choose to live an uncompromising life!
