Mission and Values

RiverLife's Mission

We believe the mission God has given us is encapsulated in the following statement:

RiverLife, as an outreaching cell church, is committed to:

  1. Transforming lives by making disciples
  2. Impacting society by advocating the family
  3. Blessing the nations by establishing local churches

In short, we are about "Transforming Lives, Impacting Society and Blessing Nations."

We will fulfill God's call for us by being an outreaching cell church. We are passionate about reaching out to pre-believers, because it is the heartbeat of Jesus for the lost to return to the Father. We are committed to building a church of cells, where the cell is the primary platform through which we shepherd and disciple our people. As they grow into fully devoted disciples of Christ, we send them out to reach others, to impact society and bless the nations.

Transforming lives by making disciples of Christ

God does not just want converts in the church. He desires for us to be transformed into fully devoted disciples of Christ. A disciple of Christ is one who has experienced the power of God's love, grace and Holy Spirit in his life. He knows God's purpose in his life and is passionate about fulfilling it. He is one who loves God passionately and people wholeheartedly, and is committed to making an invisible God visible to the world.

Impacting society by advocating the family
We can impact society in many ways. However, we believe God has called RiverLife to impact society by advocating the family. In God's economy, the family is the most basic unit of society. In these times, the family is under severe attack as reflected by the record number of divorces, broken homes and shattered lives (2 Timothy 3:1-5).

We advocate the family by teaching and modelling biblical family values. We advocate the family by speaking up against any societal ills that can destroy the family or through any other means that can uphold biblical family values. Through this, we impact and transform society by reflecting God's character more and more (Matthew 5:13-14).

Blessing the nations by establishing local churches
As spiritual descendants of Abraham, we believe that God has called the church to be a blessing to the nations (Genesis 12:1-3). While there are various ways of doing this, we believe God has called RiverLife to bless the nations by championing the cause of the local church.

Scripture shows us clearly that the establishment of strong local churches is God's strategy for building His Kingdom on earth. Everywhere the apostle Paul went, he planted churches or strengthened existing ones. We believe that where there are strong local churches, the Gospel will be preached and the community will be transformed.

RiverLife's Core Values

Dependence on God
God is the source of everything and we are wholly dependent on Him for our being and doing (Psalm 127:1). We need to stay in vital union with Him, rely on the power of His Holy Spirit, humbly seek His direction for our lives and ministry and serve Him from a position of rest.

Living in Community
God has created us to live in authentic community or fellowship with Him and each other (Acts 2:4-47). Therefore, cells, where we do life deeply together and are committed to each other's growth in the Lord, are an integral part of our church culture.

Transformation in People
We believe in the redemption and restoration of man to the image of God (2 Corinthians 3:18). We are passionate about reaching the unsaved, in Singapore and the nations, discipling them and helping them develop to their fullest God-given potential,

Building the Family
The family is instituted by God as the fundamental unit of society. We are pro-famiily in our ministries as the family is the primary setting in which biblical values are learned, and the capacity for close relationships with God and with others are developed (Deuteronomy 6:1-2).

Excellence for God
We pursue excellence in everything we do because it honours God and inspires people (Colossians 3:23-24). We are responsible for discovering, developing and using our spiritual gifts. We are to be faithful in the little things, and to finish well.
